Our Mission

A Home for Worship, Learning, Service, and Community

Mahdiye California is dedicated to serving Allah (SWT) and the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) by fostering faith, knowledge, unity, and community service.

Our mission is to provide a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment where individuals and families can strengthen their relationship with Allah, deepen their understanding of Islam, and build meaningful connections with one another.

Through religious gatherings, educational programs, youth development, community outreach, charitable initiatives, and family-centered activities, we strive to preserve and promote the values of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) while nurturing future generations of confident, knowledgeable, and compassionate Muslims.

Mahdiye California exists to be a home for worship, learning, service, and community, a place where faith is strengthened, hearts are united, and lives are transformed through the teachings of Islam.

Our Vision

A Thriving Center Rooted in Faith and Knowledge

Our vision is to establish Mahdiye California as a thriving center of faith, knowledge, service, and community rooted in the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).

We aspire to build a lasting institution that nurtures strong believers, strengthens families, empowers youth, serves those in need, and preserves the Islamic identity of future generations.

Through worship, education, community engagement, charitable service, and leadership development, we seek to cultivate a generation of Muslims who are spiritually grounded, intellectually confident, morally upright, and actively engaged in society.

As Mahdiye California grows, we envision becoming a comprehensive Islamic center that includes educational programs, youth and family services, community outreach initiatives, charitable efforts, and, by the grace of Allah, a full-time Islamic school dedicated to raising future generations upon the values of faith, knowledge, excellence, and service.

Guided by the principles of Islam and inspired by the legacy of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), we strive to be a beacon of guidance, unity, and hope for our community and beyond.

Our Story

From a Shared Vision to a Permanent Community Home

More than a decade of planning, service, sacrifice, and faith has shaped Mahdiye California into the institution it is becoming today.

2014

A Vision Among Young Community Members

The story of Mahdiye California began in 2014 with a vision shared by a group of young community members who had grown up in the Greater Sacramento area.

2016

SACSHIA Begins

One of the first major steps toward that vision was taken through the establishment of SACSHIA (Sacramento Shia Youth Group), bringing together young Muslims from different ethnic, cultural, and social backgrounds under the shared values of Islam and the love of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).

2018

Formal Islamic Studies

In late 2018, one of Mahdiye's founders began pursuing formal Islamic studies, eventually traveling overseas to attend the Hawza and dedicate himself to the study of Islam, jurisprudence, theology, history, and the teachings of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).

2024

Mahdiye California Launches

At the request of young adults and families connected to SACSHIA and similar efforts, Mahdiye California officially launched as a biweekly gathering dedicated to faith, education, community building, and spiritual growth.

2026

A Permanent Home in Sacramento

By the grace of Allah (SWT), the support of generous donors, and the dedication of volunteers, Mahdiye California secured its first permanent location in Sacramento while welcoming home the young scholar whose journey had begun years earlier.

As the Muslim population, and particularly the Shia Muslim community, continued to grow, these young men, most of whom were born and raised during the 1990s, began to reflect on the future of their community. Having grown up in local Islamic centers and benefited from the efforts and sacrifices of previous generations, they recognized both the blessings and the responsibilities that came with building upon that foundation.

They believed that the future of the community would depend upon investing in its youth, strengthening family bonds, cultivating future leaders, and creating spaces where the next generation could remain connected to Islam and the teachings of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) while navigating life in the West.

What began as conversations among friends gradually evolved into a long-term vision.

Over time, SACSHIA grew into a thriving youth community, hosting educational programs, discussions, social gatherings, recreational activities, and spiritual events. At its peak, the group regularly brought together nearly forty young men and women who found friendship, mentorship, and a stronger connection to their faith.

As these efforts continued, another need became increasingly apparent. The younger generation desired access to scholars who understood not only the Islamic sciences but also the cultural realities and challenges of life in America.

The hope was that one day he would return and serve the very community that helped inspire his journey.

The response exceeded expectations.

What began as a modest gathering quickly developed into a growing community of families, youth, and believers seeking regular opportunities to learn, connect, worship, and serve together.

After two years of consistent programming and steady growth, it became clear that the next chapter had arrived. The community needed a permanent home.

Today, Mahdiye California stands as the result of more than a decade of planning, service, sacrifice, and faith. From a vision shared among a handful of young community members to a permanent institution serving families throughout the region, Mahdiye continues to grow while remaining committed to its original purpose: serving Allah (SWT), strengthening the community, and preserving the teachings of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) for generations to come.

Our Commitment

Serving Allah (SWT), strengthening the community, and preserving the teachings of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) for generations to come.
